From the Kingdom of Bahrain, Dr. Omar Al-Ubaydli shares his thoughtful perspectives with us. He is an affiliated Associate Professor of Economics at George Mason University and a Senior Affiliated Scholar at the Mercatus Center. His research focuses on political economy, experimental economics, the economics of science, and the economies of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries. He previously served on the Commonwealth of Virginia’s Joint Advisory Board of Economists and as a visiting professor of economics at the University of Chicago. His research has appeared in international peer-reviewed journals, while his commentary has been published in outlets including Forbes, U.S. News, and The National. Al-Ubaydli earned his BA in economics from the University of Cambridge and his MA and PhD in economics from the University of Chicago.
